Dangerous Goods Declarations All Find Recognition

The customer

One of the world's largest shipping companies, specializing in international container transport.

The problem: paperchaos

The customer ships containers from one corner of the world to another. When transporting dangerous goods, the law requires them to use Dangerous Goods Declarations. These are designed to ensure that authorities can easily check that the goods being transported are properly packaged, labelled and declared. DGDs are drawn up by local agents in the ports of departure, usually under high time pressure and without a fixed structure. Lack of structure is something that authorities do not like to hear. That is why our customer was looking for a way to link DGDs and containers more efficiently.

The solution: automation with OCR

By combining existing and new OCR technologies, we configurde our EasyForm Capture software to suit the customer’s needs.

By automating the processing of DGDs, our software can automatically link the right DGD to the right container in 80% of cases. This ensures more accurate reporting of dangerous goods, without the agents having to work harder - on the contrary. What's more, our software acts as a lever for further change management in the customer’s organisation.
